net-zero home featured spray foam project for Delkote Machine Finishing

February 2017: A Treehouse Getaway

Featured in their own reality show on the DIY network, the Treehouse Guys have been custom designing treehouse rentals and private backyard treehouses for private clients throughout the country. Recently, owner Michael Parrish teamed up with Delkote to insulate the first Treehouse Guys project in Asheville, in the beautiful Serenity Asheville development. This treehouse and many other planned for the development are offered as rental properties.

What's different about insulating a house that's up in the trees? Spray foam is a good choice for this situation, because its air-tightness puts a dramatic stop to cold air that could seep into a home through cracks in the construction of the raised floor system. This project used our Demilec Sealection 500 open cell spray foam in walls, roof, and floor, creating an exceptionally air-tight, energy efficient and comfortable home in the trees!

June 2016: A Modern, Passive Solar, Net-Zero Home

The "Ridgeline" is one of the most popular models in "Renew Collection" by Deltec Homes, a line of high performance and net-zero homes manufactured by the panelized home builder in their (solar powered) factory here in Asheville, North Carolina. Featuring a modern look, passive solar layout with south-facing glass and a heat absorbing slab, a super-insulated building envelope, (R24 walls, R30 roof, R10 under-slab insulation) and a solar electric array, this Energy Star Certified home has a score of 10 on the RESNET HERS Index.. Spray foam was a great fit for the roof of this job, which uses trusses and consists predominantly of vaulted ceilings, with one attic space designed for mechanical equipment. Installing spray foam at the roof deck created a conditioned attic space, with similar temperature and humidity conditions to the house, which is a much more energy efficient place for mechanical equipment and ductwork.

French Broad River Academy featured spray foam project for Delkote Machine Finishing

March 2016: French Broad River Academy
The French Broad River Academy, located on a restored brownfield site near the French Broad River in North Asheville, is now open, using the French Broad River to offer experiential and science education to fifth, sixth, and seventh grade boys. The students are kept warm and comfortable with the help of Delkote's Spray Foam Insulation. In fact, we were able to deliver a commercial-code approved product that fit very high R-values into limited attic and floor spaces, spraying an impressive R42 into the attic, using Demilec's Agribalance, a high R-value open cell spray foam, and R38 in the floor. The project boosts Delkote's commercial resume. You can read a case study on this project in the 2015-2016 Western North Carolina Green Building Directory.
